MBA/MACC Program
The MBA/MACC International Experience creates a three-dimensional approach to international education for graduate business students. Building upon on-campus guest speakers and cultural events, students travel to the Republic of Panama in order to see in person what international business can mean. For example, students will visit multiple businesses in the region including the Panama Canal Authority as well as businesses operating in the Colon Free Trade Zone. These outings are balanced against visits with local artisans selling indigenous crafts and/or domestic goods such as coffee. We then evaluate these global and domestic business efforts in the context of the rich culture and history of the county. Additionally, Panama's historic sites and unspoiled terrain yield a wide variety of specialized excursion opportunities which may include touring the engineering marvels of the Panama Canal Locks and exploring the three different centers of Panama City, coffee plantations, lush rainforests, and other local markets.
Participating in such a program exposes students directly to how commerce occurs outside of the United States in a way that is difficult to capture in the traditional classroom setting. The Republic of Panama is particularly illustrative of these opportunities because of significant economic development occurring there and its role in connecting trade and logistic globally.
