Czech Republic • Prague
Criminology, Humanities Social Work, Social Science & International Affairs
After the fall of communism in 1989, the borders to the Czech Republic
were reopened and Prague, the capital city, quickly surfaced as an
internationally recognized center of culture. Located in the heart of Europe,
Prague provides a fascinating vantage point from which to study emerging
European nations and issues of democratization. The program offers
students an absorbing international and intercultural perspective on a wide
array of aesthetic, historical, political, and social issues. Students with broad
interests in the social sciences such as criminology, social work, international
social welfare, political science, international affairs, and human rights are
encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
Some weekends are filled with course-related field trips to the city’s
historical sites and museums, as well as excursions to other famous landmarks.
The Czech Republic shares borders with Germany, Poland, Slovakia,
and Austria, providing multidirectional opportunities for students’ personal
weekend travel. Weekend trips to Krakow, Poland and Cesky Krumlov in
the Czech Republic are included.
Eligibility
This program is open to all interested students
and is not restricted to any particular major. Students
in criminology, social work, political science and
international affairs are particularly welcome.
Housing
Program participants will be housed in comfortable
apartments in central Prague.
