MBA/MACC/Specialized Masters Program
Sydney has a metropolitan area population of approximately 4.34 million. Its inhabitants are called Sydneysiders, and Sydney is often called “the Harbour City,” “the City of Villages” and “the Emerald City.” It is one of the most multicultural cities in the world. It is home to the iconic Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. The metropolitan area is surrounded by national parks, and contains many bays, rivers and inlets. Sydney has hosted major international sporting events, including the 1938 British Empire Games, 2000 Summer Olympics and the final of the 2003 Rugby World Cup. Sydney is an international center for arts, fashion, culture, commerce, education, industry, sports and tourism. It is considered an alpha + world city, making it the only one in Australia and in the Oceana region, listed by the Loughborough University group’s 2008 inventory and ranked 16th among global cities by Foreign Policy’s 2008 Global Cities Index.

As a financial hub for Australia and the Asia Pacific, Sydney has a financial services workforce half the size of London’s and approaching half of New York’s.  It is home to cutting-edge manufacturers of advanced products from medical devices to defense and aerospace, and is a center for highly skilled film, digital animation, television and other creative industries.  As host of 2000 Olympic Games, Sydney showcased to the world its logistics, infrastructure and construction capabilities.  The city offers a more cost competitive office location than other major business centers and an open and efficient regulatory environment.

Sydney is the capital of Australia’s leading business State, New South Wales, whose economy is larger than that of Hong Kong, Malaysia or Singapore, and accounts for more than one third of Australia’s GDP.  New South Wales is a significant producer of low cost mineral resources and a major world supplier of coal.
