Program Assistants
Program Assistants (PAs) provide support to the program leader/director, students and International Programs by facilitating the smooth running of the program and serving as positive role models to all students. Specific responsibilities vary from program to program, but can be generally categorized as providing assistance in organizing program activities, ensuring housing operations run appropriately, monitoring student behavior and communicating with program faculty, staff, students and vendors.
The Application Process for each program is handled differently, but all study center-based applicants will be expected to submit the following:
- Application form (To download application, see "Apply Now" button at the right)
- Three letters of recommendation
- Resume
- A short 1 -3 page essay (for details, see "Apply Now" button at the right)
- Transcripts (for non-FSU applicants)
After selection, each Program Assistant is required to do the following (for ALL PAs):
- Attend and assist with the general and site-specific pre-departure orientation meetings for students (length and number of meetings varies per program)
- Attend and actively participate in the pre-departure Program Assistant orientation (approximately 2 ½ hours)
- Sign and return the Program Assistant Reasonable Agreement, which outlines the specific administrative expectations of the role
- Sign and return the Program Assistant Code of Ethics, which outlines the specific behavioral expectations of the role
- Complete and return the Important Forms Packet
- Sign and return the Housing Lease Agreement
- Complete immigration/visa paperwork in accordance with the same deadlines as the students on their respective program
- Complete paperwork and provide photographs for the ISIC card, in accordance with the same deadlines as the students on their respective program
- Meet with the respective program leader, if requested
- Perform minimal pre-departure, routine tasks, if requested by the program leader or International Programs
- Attend and assist with the general and site-specific on-site orientation meetings for students
- Attend and actively participate in an on-site orientation meeting with the study center staff/program leader
